Short honest answer is no. Paint protection isn’t a magic forcefield — and anyone who tells you it is, probably wants to sell you something. Ceramic coatings and paint protection products are not bulletproof, and they won’t stop every scratch, chip, or mark.
But in the right conditions — especially up here in Cairns — they can make a huge difference in how your car ages.
A proper ceramic coating creates a hard, durable layer that sits on top of your clear coat. It won’t stop stone chips or deep scratches, but it will:
It’s not indestructible — but it’s extremely useful if your car lives outside, drives long distances, or is exposed to strong sun and high temperatures.
Car dealership paint protection is almost always a private label product , something made specifically for them, not for the detailing industry. These products are usually:
In fact, many dealership “coatings” perform about the same (or sometimes worse) than a DIY Ceramic Spray you can buy off the shelf. You’re often paying hundreds or thousands for a product worth a fraction of that.
If you want long-term protection and you care about your paint, then a professionally installed ceramic coating from a certified detailer (like Gtechniq) is absolutely worth it.
If you’re just trying to keep the car looking tidy and don’t want to spend money, a DIY ceramic spray every few months is a smarter choice than dealership products.
Get real ceramic protection if you want quality, longevity, easier maintenance, and peace of mind.
Skip dealership coatings.
And don’t believe anyone who says a coating makes your car invincible — it doesn’t.
But in Australia’s heat, dust, and harsh UV
a proper coating can save your paint, your time, and your sanity.

1. Full Inspection
Every car starts with a detailed inspection to identify paint type, existing defects, and the level of preparation required.
2. Foam Bath & Iron Decontamination
We begin with a gentle foam bath wash, followed by an iron-removal bath to safely break down embedded contaminants. This gives us a clean surface to work from.

We begin with a gentle foam bath wash, followed by an iron-removal bath to safely break down embedded contaminants. This gives us a clean surface to work from. Some will require a clay bar treatment.
3. Drying & Preparation
Once dried, newer vehicles typically receive an ultra fine polish to unlock clarity and gloss without unnecessary paint removal.
For modern vehicles with newer water-based paint systems, we often use a jewelling technique, a slow-speed, ultra-light polishing method with a finishing pad. This maximises gloss and creates a highly refined surface perfect for ceramic bonding.
4. IPA Wipe Down
The paint is wiped with an IPA solution to remove any oils or residues, ensuring a clean surface for the coating to adhere to.
5. Ceramic Coating Application
A Gtechniq-certified ceramic coating is then applied, forming a durable, high-performing layer of protection.
If you’re looking for maximum water beading, we can apply Gtechniq ExoV5 on top of the ceramic base layer. EXO increases slickness, enhances hydrophobic performance, and extends beading longevity.
